Founder & Medical Director
Dr. Albert E. Takem is the founder of Meridian Medical Group and a physician board certified in Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine. He provides comprehensive primary care and medical weight-management services within Meridian's coordinated care model.
Meridian Medical Group builds on long-standing community practices that local families have trusted for generations.
For more than eighty years, the practice has welcomed patients for treatment and disease prevention, led in turn by Dr. Sasscer, Dr. Clark Holmes, Dr. Alain Champaloux and now Dr. Albert E. Takem.
Our Silver Spring location was the primary care practice of Dr. Peter B. Sherer for 27 years. After Dr. Sherer retired in January 2022, Dr. Takem took over the practice, and it continues to care for the surrounding community.
Under Dr. Takem's leadership, these practices now work together as one coordinated medical group, bringing primary care, specialty care, behavioral health, labs and imaging together across our Maryland locations.
